Curved Base Unit — specification

The QuickCab Curved Base Unit is a 720mm-high external curved carcass that finishes the end of a base run with a soft radius rather than a square corner. Available in two radius profiles — standard TKC (R168) and Cartmel & Stratto (R243) — and in four Egger decors. Pair with a 260mm-wide base unit (XXXBASE260) to extend the run cleanly.

Features and benefits

  • Cam-and-dowel construction — rigid-cabinet strength delivered as flat-pack, with a positive mechanical lock at every joint.
  • 18mm MFC back panel — the curved profile carries full-thickness MFC, the same board as the carcass.
  • 18mm Egger melamine-faced chipboard carcass throughout, in four decors: White, Light Grey, Dust Grey and Oak.
  • External curved profile in two radius options:
  •     • Standard TKC radius (R168) — pairs with most QuickCab door ranges
  •     • Cartmel & Stratto radius (R243) — for matching Cartmel and Stratto curved doors
  • 0.8mm ABS edging on the curved leading edges — the radius is too tight for 2mm PVC; 0.4mm melamine on other exposed edges.
  • One repositionable shelf included.
  • Titus soft-close hinges included as standard — controlled-close action that prevents door slam and protects the carcass.
  • 720mm height, 300mm external depth — narrower than a standard base unit, sized to follow the radius cleanly.
  • Legs sold separately — 150mm adjustable legs are available in the Essential Components range to match the rest of the QuickCab run.
  • 5mm colour-co-ordinated cover caps included to conceal fixings.
  • Build time: approximately two minutes per cabinet.
QuickCab

QuickCab cabinets — built to rigid-cabinet standard

QuickCab cabinets are engineered to deliver the strength and finish of a rigid cabinet with the cost and delivery efficiency of flat-pack. Every fitting is pre-inserted at the factory, so panels push together and lock in place with a single screwdriver in around two minutes per cabinet — roughly 75% faster than a standard flat-pack build.

Construction and materials

The carcass is built from 18mm Egger melamine-faced chipboard (MFC), joined with cam-and-dowel fixings. Cam-and-dowel construction creates a positive mechanical lock at every joint, which is why a properly built flat-pack of this specification performs like a rigid cabinet in service.

Base units carry a solid 18mm MFC back panel — full-thickness MFC, the same board as the carcass — which adds rigidity, supports wall fixings, and stops the carcass racking under worktop load. Wall units and full-height appliance and larder units use an 8mm MFC back, sized to suit the taller carcass and leave a clear rear void for service runs. Curved profile units carry an 18mm MFC back. All back panels and centre posts are MFC.

Shelf leading edges are finished with 2mm PVC edging, heavy enough to absorb knocks from pans and crockery without chipping. Other exposed leading edges carry a 0.4mm melamine edge band; curved units, where the radius is too tight for 2mm PVC, use 0.8mm ABS tape. Board options are four Egger decors: White (W980), Light Grey (U708), Dust Grey (U732) and Oak (H3368). 5mm colour-co-ordinated cover caps are included with every cabinet to conceal fixings.

Hardware and adjustability

Every QuickCab cabinet ships with Titus soft-close hinges as standard — a controlled-close mechanism that prevents door slam and protects the carcass over years of use. Gables are pre-drilled at standard 100mm hinge spacing, ready to accept the supplied hinges out of the box.

Base, appliance and larder units sit on 150mm adjustable legs that level uneven floors — a practical detail on UK refurbs where solid-floor irregularities are the norm. Shelves run on metal studs in pre-drilled positions and reposition without tools. Wall units are supplied with concealed hangers and plates fitted ready to mount. Base units are pre-drilled for drawer conversion to drawerline, 2-drawer or 3-drawer packs, and a 100mm cross rail at the back of base units ties the carcass together and provides a substantial fixing surface for worktop screws.

What this means in practice

A cabinet that arrives flat in the van, builds in roughly two minutes, and once built behaves like a rigid cabinet — with the solid 18mm back where it matters on base units, Egger board throughout, Titus soft-close hinges included as standard, and edging specified by impact location — 2mm PVC where it matters, lighter where it doesn't.
